Voice Mail and paging ?

Voice Mail and paging ?

Voice Mail and paging ?

my Company has a Model 120 for Voice mail and Nextel for Cell Phones, and the user's would like to ditch the pagers and have it just for to nextel's. My question is has anyone setup pageing to go to nextel's specifically and if so what was the post pager String?

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

We do't have nextel up here in Canada, but I have set up mailboxes to call out to cells and other phones.  Each time we had to play with the settings to get it to work right.  It is not often that we do that as a lot of those mails never got set up with outdialling because of port real estate.

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

mitelman, Nextel is the same as Telus' Mike network.  We used to page out to our Mike sets, let me see if I can dig up the pager string.

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

Well, there's no old programming laying around in our old 120 system (upgraded to a 640, 120 is just being an auto attendant now).
Basically what you need to do is find the local Nextel access number for your area, and figure out the digit string to send the numeric page to the phone.
Ours was something like 9613xxxxxxxA1A1A8200P1HH
Where xxxxxxx was the Telus local access number, A wait for answer, P for pause and H's to hangup.
It was close to that, your area could differ.  Just place some test calls manually until you have the string worked out.

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

I found something after Bugging the Local Nortel person, in Minneapolis they have two options One is a a IVR number that ends in PAGE or 7243 there is a "express option where after it answers make the first two letters "00" and the last two "##" and the First 10 are the Cell phone # followed by 7 digit # for the voicemail in this case,  which is within the 24 letter limit, they also Have a 363-Note, which is for Modem generated requests,

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

That's it!  Ours ended in PAGE as well.  If the cell phone was 555-1234 then the number for dialing into the paging system was 555-PAGE, from there you just needed to get the dialing string right.

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

I've tried putting 919-page in for the pager # and tried a Number of Varations on the Post pager # None of which have had any Succes, I'm going to talk to the nextel folks "AGAIN" as the Local Mitel folks Have "thrown up there Hands"

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

Did you dial 919-PAGE and see if it even dials into the Nextel paging network?  That is the 1st step to confirm before you can even move on to mailbox programming.

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

Yup, I've done two things, One is checking the SMDR logs to see there was a dial to that number when the message was left,  and it has shown up, second I changed the pager Number to a Actual Mitel phone # and left another message and the phone Rang, I picked it up and heard the touchtones of the post pager #, Like I'd expect, The only other thing I'd Suspect is Nextel IVR Not liking the Sequence timing Wise otherwise I don't know

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

I've also talked to Nextel national Support, they don't seem to have any Immediate solution Either,(that works)   but if they or I stumble accross something I wil let everyone know,

RE: Voice Mail and paging ?

I did get the nextel person to say that once the call is connected if I shoot the DTMF of the post pager # too quickly or two late in referance to the greeting it will not send, Likewise if I hangup to early. . . it will cause the page not to be sent,
