Wish to simultaneously view and update 5 palm calendars through a single desktop application; will enable me better coordinate schedules.  Each of the five users will then synchronize their palm and retrieve only their events.

Not a problem as long as you use five different Palm devices and a single PC/cradle.  Set the first one up, and then as each new one is synced for the first time you should be prompted to create new user on that machine.  Have you had a problem doing this?

While I can see each calendar separately, I am unable to see and update their schedules as a group.  Have you been able to do this?

Ahhhh...I misunderstood your original question - sorry No, there is definetly not a way to do this via the Palm software.
