How to migrate Btrieve???

How to migrate Btrieve???

How to migrate Btrieve???

Hi to all!

I've got a DOS apllication that uses Btrieve on a Netware 4.11 server, and i want to set it up running locally on a Win 95 workstation or on a Win2000 server...

The issue is that i can copy all the application files to the workstation, but when i try to execute it locally, it gives me a btrieve error....

How can i correct this???

I've tried Btrieve fro Windows (I've got an local Win application running it) and it didn't worked!

Please, help!!!

RE: How to migrate Btrieve???

Sounds like you've got an old version of Btrieve running.  To migrate to another server, you're going to need to install Btrieve/Pervasive.SQL on the new server and tell the application the data is on the new server.  If you want to run it locally on a machine, you'll need a local engine that supports the interface you're using.  Because this is a DOS app, Btrieve for Windows (if it's Btrieve 6.15) won't work.  There was no DOS interface for Btrieve for Windows.  If you're using Pervasive.SQL 8 (the current version of Btrieve), you can't use Win95 (you'll need Win98, WinME, WinXP, Win2K, WinNT, or Win2K3).  Pervasive.SQL comes with BTRBOX components that allow DOS apps to interact with the Pervasive.SQL 32 bit components.

RE: How to migrate Btrieve???

Sorry, but i'm quite newbie on this Btrieve thing, so i wonder how can i accurately check the Btrieve versions i have, either in my Novell server and in my Win98 workstation???

Thanks for all the help!

RE: How to migrate Btrieve???

On the Novell server, you can type "modules" and look for BTRIEVE.NLM. That should display the version.
For the client, if it's DOS, run BTRIEVE.EXE or BREQUEST.EXE or BREQNT.EXE. It'll display the version. For Windows, look at WBTRCALL.DLL (16 bit), WBTRV32.DLL (old 32 bit), and W3BTRV7.DLL (new 32 bit).
