HP 640C Deskjet Printer & Win98 SE Print 1 line Pg Eject

This printer worked Fine with Win ME but after reloading Win98 it prints 1 line, page ejects and prints the next line on a new sheet of paper etc ....Has anyone seen this before ? I have heard from HP that they use to have a problem when printing from old DOS applications(which I am doing) but they didn't know how to correct this except to tell me to go into the BIOS and look for a setting to change but didn't know which setting.

The only setting i could think of is to change your LPT setting, its probably set on EPP or ECP. try going into just dos, and type
c:\>Dir > LPT1
It should print out a directory listing of your c drive, in which case i wouldnt think it would be the port at that point.

Thank you for the response. I get an "INT 24" error message when doing the "dir > lpt1". HP told me it requires a change in my BIOS but they are not sure what setting needs changing. Thanks again,

You could try changing your LPT port from ECP to EPP, or from EPP TO ECP, Some computers have a third setting with those 2 also, may wanna play around with those in your BIOS
