adding a second email address

(OP)
Running GW 5.5 on Novell 5.1.

2 users have emails that are often mistyped by others who add an extra letter, i.e.: The sender tried to reach us at contacts@ourplace.com when the proper email is contact@ourplace.com. Because this is not an isolated case I would like to either create the second mailbox and forward all mail received, or have the one mailbox set to receive all mail intended for either email addresses (adding an alias?). Do you have any sugestions on the most elegant way to achieve this result?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

RE: adding a second email address

I would add an alias, our network ID's are different than our Internet E-Mail addresses, since our network ID's do not reference the person in any way, we use an Alias for people to use their on their business cards.  I believe an Alias would work perfectly for your application.  Keep in mind you can only have one Alias for one person, if you need multiple alias' for each person use the Nickname field it will accomplish the same purpose.

RE: adding a second email address

I would try giving them each a nickname.  You should be able to do this in Netware Administrator, double clicking on the name of the person you want to give this 2nd e-mail address and go down the right side to Groupwise nicknames.

RE: adding a second email address

On second though Donna is correct, a nickname would be a better solution to the problem.  If you use an Alias then you would be replicating out the error when you sent across the internet and you wouldn't want to do that.  The Nickname is not place the error in the e-mail when someone replyed to the e-mail.

Good one to note......
