Can you dial into this like a definity or a magix? If so how do you set this up, do you need the internal modem card? How do any of you do remote changes to this? Is is wise to make an ip route from the internet in?
1. Set a password for the "RemoteManager" user.
2. Be sure there is a RAS named "DialIn"
3. Make an IP Route pointing at the LAN you're configuring from, destination set to "RemoteManager".
4. In Incomming Call Route, Route a number to "DialIn" select the "Any Data" bearer capability.
In your end:
If you have an IP Office (or Alchemy)
1. Create a service for the customer, using te password above. Be sure there is no firewall-profile in the service. Be sure to use the same phonenumber as above.
2. Make an IP Route with your new Service as Destination.
3. Set the Managers IP to the customer system, and search for the system. You should now be prompted for the password.
4. Voila.
Personally I'm a big fan of standard VPN tunnels. Once you're on the customers network, you can do anything you could if you were there in person.
Another option I have used is to simply port map 3389 to the VMS server PC, which should also have manager, etc. loaded on it. Then fire up RDC and point it at the cust's public IP. Just make sure you use a reasonably secure password!
