Windows Service: Is DCOM my bag baby?

Windows Service: Is DCOM my bag baby?

Windows Service: Is DCOM my bag baby?

I am a new user and new to COM/DCOM so please be patient.

I am trying to develop a DCOM application that runs as a Windows Service.  It would read data from the serial port and send events to multiple clients that need the data.  My question:  Is DCOM the right model or should I move to something else?  Also, what are some good resources for using Visual Studio .NET to develop this?  All the books I have on DCOM are over 5 years old.

Did you solve this problem?

I have multiple C++ clients that need to access my C# application on a different machine.

Hope you can help
