Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Hi.  I am using a Starplus DHS with Dispatch voicemail.  I turned Auto Attendant on and now can not access voicemail at all.  If an incoming call is not answered the automated voicemail voice comes on and says..."please hold while I transfer you to etc" and no transfer takes place, it eventually rings back to the operator's phone.  Right now I would just like to shut off the Auto Attendant as it did not do what I was hoping for...but I can't get into the admin menu or the vm menu to do this.

Can someone help me please?????
Thank you.

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

How did you turn on the AA and did you set up the menus and record your own greeting?  Are you programming via the telephone or do you have the software for laptop admin.?  It sounds like if the calls are not answered that they are  Call Forwarding No Answer into the AA and it hasn't been set up correctly (You described one of the Generic recodings).  I have several DHS w/Dispatch set up to work with the AA and vmail and it works very well.

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

I turned on the AA through Dispatch.  One line is dedicated to my supervisor's office, and she wanted to have the option of answering or not answering and then AA picking up and either sending them to me or into her voicemail.  What happens now, is every time we try to access Dispatch,(Feature 64 or hitting the MSG button) the AA voice comes on and says..."Please hold while I transfer you to ---" and then a transfer never takes place and every 20 seconds or so you keep hearing that message.

I did all of the programming with the telephone, and now that AA is on, I can't get back into the admin options to do anything.  We can't get into voicemail at all...and now its affecting other things.  We would just like to turn it off, or somehow restart our whole system and restore it to its default.  But, I figure that random wire pulling is not going to do this. :)  Or throwing the phone through the window.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Greatly!

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

First off you are very limited as to what you can set up through the telephone and if you default the Dispatch, it will revert back to the factory settings and without the Laptop admin software, you will not be able to put everything back the way it is now.

Have you tried powering down and back up to see if that will reset the voicemail and at least get it back online?
****Before doing this please read below***

If not, simply go to the Dispatch Voicemail system. On the right side of the box you will see a black power cord. Follow that down to the Power outlet and make sure that you see the transformer (Black and about 4" x 4" square). Once you verify that this is the power for Dispatch, I've found that it is easier to unplug it at the Dispatch unit than the transformer plug in.  Just pull the connector out of the Dispatch box. ***One thing that I want to mention is that above the power connect is a retangular panel/door with 2 tabs located at the top and bottom of the panel. Inside you have 8 regualar AA batteries that hold up the systems programming.  If the system hasn't been serviced and those batteries maintained, when you power off the system, it will default anyway and unless you know how to set up dispatch, you will be without service and probably will have to route a tech to repair the situation.

Do you know how to program the system from scratch? How long since the batteries were checked or the system serviced? Please answer the questions and I am getting my manual to see what we can do to get that system out of AA and back online!

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Please give me an idea of what programming you did.  I don't need every step at this point but I do need to know what you went in and changed (You probably accesses your mailbox, dialed 7 + supervisor's password, then what...)?  I assume that you have the Dispatch manual, is that correct? Thanks and I look forward to your reply!

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Oh you're so awesome for doing this.  Actually, the manual tells you how to set up the voicemail step by step.  However, since I followed the instructions in setting up the AA we are a bit squeamish about powering down now.  We have caved and called the weasely phone tech guy that we do not like, but he has the laptop and should be here at lunch.  I really appreciate the time  you took to help.  Hopefully the phone angel will be here today and we can get it fixed, if not, then I am seriously considering trying your idea on the sly.  Wish me luck!

Thanks again.

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Yes, he's here right now and I mentioned the batteries.

I'm in the cold, cold state of Michigan, and the ever perpetual state of Confusion.

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

Can't do anything about the cold but we can assist with the confusion! lol!  I am a telecommunications manager for a nationwide corporation with over 400 branch offices scattered across the US and range from 8 lines to T-1, all with key systems.  We have about 2 of every product ever made.  We contract service through a nationwide provider and if you are unhappy with your tech, we'll find one in your area that supports Vodavi.  Just let me know. trabra

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

What did the tech find wrong and why couldn't you get in??

RE: Auto Attendant messed up voicemail

We couldn't get in because aa was on line two.  That's what he said.  So, that's what I'm choosing to believe.  Haha.  But, at least they are ringing now!!!
