i made a chat program in BCB 5, and the whole thing was working fine, except for the matter of connecting. i have an edit box to input the IP, if that helps any...but it keeps bringing up an error:

Windows Socket Error: (10049), on API 'connect'

it wont let me connect, and my lack of knowledge w\ sockets doesnt help much. also, i know about listen in terms of sockets, but i dont know what it does...
if anyone could help, id be much apperciated

I wrote a chat program and the program hangs if the IP Address I am trying to send a message to is off line. Make sure the IP Address you are sending a message to is online. To test it you can send a message to your IP address, you will have two messages pop up in the message window, the one you sent and the one you recieved.
