What is Documentum ?

Yippeeee!!! First post!!! Hurrraaayyyy!!!

Could anyone briefly explain the target problem for Documentum ? What is it all about etc ??

Its nice to be THE first poster..... Thank you Tek-Tips

Thank you very much.

RE: What is Documentum ?

This is a software that enables you to scan signatures and store in a database.  I used to use it at a Financial company, we did a migration from Watermark to Documentum.  It is made by a company out of the US Inacom.  I am not sure if you were looking for a description or not.  I used to manage the server, so if you have any questions i will try to answer.  Have a great day.

RE: What is Documentum ?

Can I have any Document related to migration from watermark to Documentum process.
It will be greatful if anyone can give me the solution for it.

RE: What is Documentum ?

The Documentum I know is described by this quote from their website www.documentum.com:

Documentum is the leading provider of content management solutions, with the proven experience and superior technology that uniquely qualifies us as content management experts. With offices around the world and serving more than 1,500 of the largest businesses, Documentum has established a tradition of excellence in meeting customer requirements since 1990.

You can read more about their company here: http://www.documentum.com/about_us/fact.html

Lots of articles on Documentum and what it is can be found here: http://www.dmdeveloper.com/articles/index.html

You may have an application that uses Documentum software to scan signatures into a database, but that is not the only thing you can do with it.  Inacom might be a consulting company or Documentum partner, but they are not the software company itself.  Perhaps you meant this Inacom? http://www.inacom-msn.com

According to Perl folklore, the three great virtues of a programmer are Laziness, Impatience and Hubris, in that order. Randal Schwartz explains, in The Camel book:

LAZINESS: The quality that makes you go to great effort to reduce overall energy expenditure. It makes you write labor-saving programs that other people will find useful, and document what you wrote so you don't have to answer so many questions about it. Hence, the first great virtue of a programmer.

IMPATIENCE: The anger you feel when the computer is being lazy. This makes you write programs that don't just react to your needs, but actually anticipate them. Or at least that pretend to. Hence, the second great virtue of a programmer.

HUBRIS: Excessive pride, the sort of thing Zeus zaps you for. Also the quality that makes you write (and maintain) programs that other people won't want to say bad things about. Hence, the third great virtue of a programmer.

Copied and pasted by a lazy programmer.
