ElectraElite 48/192 - Need to forward calls from operator station

ElectraElite 48/192 - Need to forward calls from operator station

(OP)
Greetings!

I am being asked to provide our receptionist with a way of forwarding incoming calls to another station in case she needs to leave the front desk.  I have been all over the manual and I cannot seem to find the right combo of keys to accomplish this.  Feature, 60, Destination ext., Feature does not work  . . . It looks as though the station accepts the programming, but when a call comes in it does not forward.  I am guessing because of the nature of it being on Port 01.  Do I need to program a memory block to allow this phone to use the CFW feature?  If so, what might that be?  Am I barking up the wrong pumpkin?  Thanks in advance for any ideas on this.

Danno

Yes you need to change a memory block, cant think of it of hand but it's in Access codes, you need to create one... by default there is no Call Foward code so one needs to be created, by default SPEAKER 43 is call Call Busy No Answer so maybe make it SPEAKER 45 if not used.
Maybe somebody did allready, try spkr 45 or 47 or 49, 47 might be fwd car keys tho.

Thanks for the tip . . . I'l give it a shot and let you know.  Was it this forum or another that I read that NEC stands for Not Enough Confusion ?  LOL   Too true. . .

RE: ElectraElite 48/192 - Need to forward calls from operator station

You are forwarding the extension correctly, but the reason it isn't working is because of the type of call.  When a CO Line is programmed to ring on a particular phone it is the CO ringing NOT the extension.  If, after setting the Feature 60 code, you were to call the extension internally you would find that it is forwarding properly.

To make this work the best way would be to DIT (Direct Inward Terminate) the calls to a CAR (virtual extension) key, and make the CAR ring on that extension.  Then when you want to forward the calls you would forward the CAR key, not the physical extension.  Also, I would create a second CAR key to forward to.  Put this CAR on the phones you want to ring when the operator is away then forward the first CAR to the second CAR.

Wow!  Looks like I am going to have to read my manual on how to accomplish what you wrote, gamn!  Imagine that. . .reading the instructions. = ;)  Thanks for the tip.  I sure do appreciate it.

BTW, curly, I haven't had the chance to try what you suggested yet.  I am going to try your solution first, seeing as it is much easier!  = :)

Thanks again to both of you.  I'll keep you posted!

The access codes for forwarding should be there already.  This is not going to make it work, as I said forwarding applies to calls terminating TO that extension not CO calls programmed to ring AT that extension.  If you need more detailed help on how to program this post your email and I can give you a step by step.

Any luck with getting some time to help me out on this?  I'm still stuck and the boss is breathing down my neck.

RE: ElectraElite 48/192 - Need to forward calls from operator station

I have been trying to solve a similar problem with my NEAX 2000 IPs system. We forward calls to a cell phone, but the original Caller ID information does not get transferred. Is this something that is possible? My sales Rep said it was the cell phone provider, which is obviously incorrect.

RE: ElectraElite 48/192 - Need to forward calls from operator station

Dterm, call id is dropped/delivered to called number only once during the first ring and a half (unless PRI).

Danno, gmannatl is right however you dont have to use the CAR key setup if its to confusing all though an excellent suggestion, look for DIT in programming and tell each line to go to receptions port # in Memory Block 3-42.
Press Feature 4 from reception to see its port # (usualy 01).

I'm not to sure why I and my side kick bothered to program an access code for call fowarding when there was a feature code, call forward busy was speaker 43 so do not and never will understand why NEC choose's to have some features using the feature button and some not.
I am a Norstar guru not an NEC one... yet, however thats why I created this forum....to learn from the pro's : ).

Well . . . I'm an Lucent/Avaya guy myself got a smattering of Nortel, too.  This is an education to be sure.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Mucho appreciado!
