Hello everyone!

I have a user who when he logs out and then tries to log back in (be it right away or after some time) indicates there are to many connections. It seems like when he exits out the system doesn't fully release.

Also when he exits the program stop responding? Always has to end program.

I have unistalled and reinstalled all components twice now. This is not fixing the problem. I am just hoping someone else has seen this issue and found a setting that can be changed. Or has an idea where i may have gone wrong??

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

RE: great plains logout

Is there another program that is trying to close or is locked at the same time?  I have seen this caused by interaction (or lack thereof) with other apps.  Mostly Outlook, but others as well.  Also, what GP version, service pack and OS are you on?  I believe XP had an issue like this that was fixed with a service pack.

RE: great plains logout

I am not sure if outlook is causing an issue?

However he does have GP 7.5 running on an XP machine.

His machine is running the lastest service pack.

gp also has last service pack installed.

RE: great plains logout

I don't know if this will help, but have you looked at TK # 30069 - How To Troubleshoot Hanging and Incompatibility Issues in Great Plains?

RE: great plains logout

No i haven't seen that, i will check it out now! Thanks I really appreciate it.

I am assuming it is an XP issue, because i have a 2000 user who has the exact same setup and has no issues.

RE: great plains logout

where do i find TK # 30069 - How To Troubleshoot Hanging and Incompatibility Issues in Great Plains?

RE: great plains logout

on customer source, the GP website - do you have access to it?

RE: great plains logout

I don't think I do. I got handed this task by upper management with little info.

RE: great plains logout

If you are a current on your maintenance plan with Great Plains you should have a login and a password to enter when you go to https://www.greatplains.com/customersource/
If you can't find them, your GP Partner or Great Plains themselves should be able to give them to you.

I don't think I am allowed to simply copy the article in here, but it basically talks about using MSCONFIG.EXE to troubleshoot the problem.

A couple of other things I would check is whether there is adware or anything else that looks like it shouldn't be there running in the background.

RE: great plains logout

I appreciate the help vick!!!

I will try to get access to the website monday.
