Red light on an expansion unit
Red light on an expansion unit
(OP)
I have a red light on an expansion box and its not been seen by the system.
If I connect a serial cable to the box it complains of TFTP Poll fail
There is a recovery process (I think) but I can't find it has anyone got it to hand?

RE: Red light on an expansion unit
If it is not being seen on the expansion port via a light under extension port it is connected to you are in trouble. I would suggest connecting a Serial cable and performing after reboot of Mod and esc key being pressed the following command AT-X this will release the firmware from the mod. Then power everything down and see if you still get the same error upon reboot of the mod and the base unit. If you do not open manager and look at the TFTP log and see if it see the TFTP request coming from the Moduel. If not I would suggest you back up the running configuration and reinstall the firmware on the 403/506/412 and see it the expansion light comes on.
Also try swapping a expansion cable with another moduel to see it the expansion cable is at fault. The chances are it may be a dead moduel. Also connect another mod to the port which is not coming up to test the port on the IPO.
Hope this helps
RE: Red light on an expansion unit
I have to check it out first thing in the morning to see if I get a red light and do a hard reboot to see what happens.
In the meantime when I reboot I get the following errors in the TFTP log:
Wed 29/10/2003 23:49:42 : Sending avpots16.bin length 157912 bytes to 192.168.2.254
Wed 29/10/2003 23:50:32 : Failed to send avpots16.bin ...sent 0 of 157912 bytes
Wed 29/10/2003 23:50:33 : Sending avpots16.bin length 157912 bytes to 192.168.2.254
Wed 29/10/2003 23:50:45 : Sending avpots16.bin length 157912 bytes to 192.168.2.254
Wed 29/10/2003 23:51:23 : Failed to send avpots16.bin ...sent 0 of 157912 bytes
Wed 29/10/2003 23:51:35 : Failed to send avpots16.bin ...sent 0 of 157912 bytes
What kind of cable is needed to get access to the expansion?
Is it a modem serial cable or a pin-pin serial cable?
What are the port settings (baud rate, parity, stop bits) that I will need to specify to see the expansion?
As far as I understood when you open the port you press the ESC key and wait till you get a prompt and then you type AT-x.
Thanks
