Hey I'm doing a Final Year Project to do with adding more functionality to Microsoft Visual SourceSafe using OLE, COM in C++.
 I was wondering if any knows how much a copy of SourceSafe will cost?

There is an academic version of VSS 6 for under $100. Your college book store should be able to help you order one or check out http://www.microsoft.com/education/?ID=AERFind to find a local reseller
