Computer runs well with office97 and other Dos software.
When in Word nothing wrong, only when I click on minamize, the whole system hangs.

Any advise

RE: System Freeze

Word is a serious memory-hog. If you are using several programs at once, make sure you always launch Word first...it helps solve some of the crashing. Good luck!

Thanks GeekyGirl, have tried this but still hanging. Now it appears that all programs are hanging on minimize or maximize.

RE: System Freeze

Office 97 has several service releases. Service release 2 is available at:http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/
There are a large number of bugs(undocumented features to ms) in an unpatched office 97. If it has not been patched, download SR2 and apply it. This may or may bot fix the issue but it is the first place to start.

RE: System Freeze

how much memory do you have in system/or % of resorces also do you have any third party products (i.e screen savers or non norm viris progams) when you mention dos programs are you running at the same time.

RE: System Freeze

What type of hardware are you using? And as per the last question are you using DOS programs which are hanging onto memory and not letting go??

Try booting up without any DOS apps and run windows and office on its own
