NICE WEB Universe

Is it possible to use a Single NICE Web Server for different or multiple NICE systems? We have multiple sites that will be using NICE and was wondering if we can save cost on the Web Server hosting it on one site only instead of having to buy one for each NICE installation.

Your feedback and expertise is greatly appreciated.

thank you

RE: NICE WEB Universe

NiceUniverse uses NiceCLS' database, so I guess one NiceUniverse cannot work with multiple (independent) NiceCLS.

Now, I don't think it is possible to have more than one NiceUniverse running on the same web server.

So my guess is that you will need one web server per site (unless, of course, all the sites are "seen" as one big virtual site).

RE: NICE WEB Universe

Hmmm... i think it might be possible to do this, but it's probably going to be kinda annoying....

It IS possible to use NICE Universe to connect to various different CLS' - all you do is setup a connection to each CLS with a differently named SQL connection, easily done from the ODBC / Data sources tab in control panel.

Then, when logging into NICE, you have the option to select a data source - where you can select the CLS connection you want to use.

Not entirely sure how this would work for the webserver - I haven't experienced this product yet - but that's how you connect to multiple CLS' from one instance of Universe.

If you need more details instructions let me know.

RE: NICE WEB Universe

In the client-server version on NiceUniverse, I agree the NiceUniverse client can indeed select which CLS it needs to connect to, using the ODBC DSN source in the log-in window.

But I can't see how the web-based NiceUniverse client can select which CLS the NiceUniverse "server module" (running on the web server) needs to connect to.
And I'm not sure you can run several independent NU "server modules" on the same web server.

What do you think?

did this ever work?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

RE: NICE WEB Universe

Hi all

It is possible to use one Web Server and several CLS servers. You have to add all the CLS servers in the "Nice Report Administrator" which is normally installed at the Web Server itself. There you can add more CLS servers under "Tools, manage servers". So far it is easy, the rest in our case could only be done by Nice CS who modified several things on the CLS Servers until it was working. I don't remember exactly what and myabe in newer versions the issues have been solved...

So sorry it's not really a help

RE: NICE WEB Universe

Cheers kuede,

I got as far as adding the servers in the report manager, can you remember what was the other mods that needed doing?

RE: NICE WEB Universe

Nice Professional services do a "consolidated" CLS offering whereby the individual cls's are replicated to a central cls, then all admin/reporting querying etc can be done from the one source.

The only bit that isn't supported is monitor.

RE: NICE WEB Universe

As mentioned above, the multi CLS functionality is only for reporting.  You won't be able to run queries or evaluate on multiple servers.

If you want your users to be able to use Web Evaluator for different sites, the best method is to have a web server for each location.  The data source the web server looks at can only be changed interactively (i.e. you have to be on the web server to change the data source for the server it looks at).
