can someone advise me on this sidekick data-loss problem.

can someone advise me on this sidekick data-loss problem.

(OP)
I cleaned up my computer yesterday and I guess I accidentally deleted some needed files. I have been working on a Sidekick file now for about 4 years.  I have over 5500 emails and I really hope I can get it back.  When I try to open it, it tells me I am missing .dll file, etwin.dll file.  so the application is there with all my info, just the ability to open it is not.  I have a sidekick cd and I re-installed it, but I am still unable to import this application file.  can you PLEASE tell me how I can retrieve this info?  I hope to hear from you soon.

RE: can someone advise me on this sidekick data-loss problem.

Dear ontracylane,
I believe this problem might be due to the fact that when you re-installed Sidekick you did not put it in the same place and the shortcut that you are using to open it is pointing to the wrong copy of Sidekick.exe

Open an Explorer window by double-clicking My Computer and  press F3 and search for any copies of the File Sidekick.exe.
When you find them, Double-Click on each one until you find the one that does open Sidekick.
Make sure you close each one down before clicking the next one
Post back if that doesn't work...
I am going to bed now so I will reply if needed tomorrow.
Anyone else with ideas, feel free to post!

p.s. There used to be a post/FAQ about this I wonder where it went?

Dear ontracyclane,
See the FAQ pages here for the download address of SK98 and the SK98patch, if the last post of mine did not solve the problem. BACKUP ALL your files/Calendar/Expenses/ etc etc first!
