Report 'trigger'....

Report 'trigger'....

Report 'trigger'....

(OP)
Hi,

Wondered if it is possible to have some kind of 'trigger' to run a report and deliver via reportcaster?

Basically we have an integration database that puts data between two sql databases. This database has a 'failure' table which capture data that has not been integrated correctly in accordance with the rules defined. What I would like to do is when a new line of data is entered in the failure table then a webFOCUS report will automatically run and will be sent to a specific user./

Any ideas how best to approach this?

RE: Report 'trigger'....

You can use the smtp services of the database rather than the reportcaster because for this type of triggering u have to have this report running for 24 hrs , and see the count in the table using sql passthru and then run the report whih i think on resource basis going to occupy a lot , so think abt it .

RE: Report 'trigger'....

WebFOCUS can't can't act on a DB triger because there is no persistant connection. You can set up an alert which uses Report Caster to periodically poll your data for specific conditions. If you want a more real time solution you can use the iWay XML Transformation Engine to set up a listener that would take the output from you DB trigger and mave it along as you wish.
