Oversize packet error...

Hello everyone,
When i try to download a file from a server to my laptop via AFP (Apple File Protocol), the file transfer is unbearably SLOW. Transferring a 1 meg file takes about 2 mins (that's way too slow). However, uploading the same file to the server takes about the time to blink an eye.

At first I thought it was my router/switch. but I connected to my server via a crossover cable and the problem still persisted. According to my network analyzer, during download many of the packets experience errors (about 70%!!) due to "Oversize Packet". This doesn't happen on the upload or if I use SMB or FTP protocol.

What could be going on??

P.S. AFP isn't "really" Appletalk. Its an Apple protocol but carried by TCP/IP.
