Yesterday we had a power outage from a storm. When the power was restored, the phones had lost their programming. Our vendor can't get to us for a week.

Meanwhile, is there a way I can make all of the phones ring when the main office number is called? Right now we can only hear the phone ring at extention 101.

The phones are ET16-1 type.

I'm not sure if I am giving enough technical information for someone to help me or not. Let me know if I need more information. Thanks!

That is a pretty old system, the only manuals I have are for the Elite 8/24, which even if the programming were the same it would still be difficult for me or for you to know what ports are being used and other minute details about the system.

My only suggestion would be to contact your vendor and see if they can give you over the phone support if they can't go out there before next week.

PS: Are the extensions still in the 100 series, or are they in the 10 series? Try making a call to the extensions.

We tried getting the vendor to give us phone support, but they only have one person who knows anything about the old systems and he is on vacation.

The extensions are still in the 100 series. I was able to reprogram all of the extension buttons (add on -> extension button -> key in extension [i.e. 104] -> press add on again). If only making the phone ring again was as easy!

I found three manual at quick-manuals.com. Does anyone know which, if any, would contain the information I need? There is 1) System Manual, 2) Users Guide and 3) Exec Users Guide. I thought there was supposed to be a programming guide, but I haven't found a place that sells one yet.

I too was unable to find a programming manual for the system out in the internet myself, even NEC doesn't have it on their website. If you buy any of those manuals buy the system manual, although I do not think it contains the programming section.

Like I said I have the 8/24 manual and if you want you can try the following programming at your own risk.

From extension 100 or 101:

Press FNC, HOLD, *, #
you should get a display that says "off-line prog"

Now press LK10 (Line Keys are numbered 1-16 on sixteen button phones with LK1 being at Top Left LK4 at Top right and LK16 at bottom right)

The MIC key should illuminate
Press #, Mic light goes out

You should now see on the screen something that says Ring Day. If not, please lift the hand set and hang up or press SPKR, the following programming will not work!

If you do see the Ring Day Prompt
you should see a "F2=P10 ring day" or something like that

The line keys should then light up, each line key represents a CO line. A lit up Line key means the CO line will ring, if they are already lit up we will have to move on to the next port.

Press Mic
enter the next port on the key pad (if you saw a "F2=P10" earlier then the next port will be F2=P11) and press the line keys to light them and make the COs ring for each port

After each port press the MIC key and repeat the process, and finally to get out of programming press the SPKR key.

Hope this helps.

When your vendor does finally get there ask him to replace the back up battery so it doesn't happen again.

Mand0, thank you for the help! Our system works somewhat differently and only has a 2 digit display. We were able to use your information and with a little experimentation we hit on something that made some of the phones ring. I'm not sure exactly what I needed to be doing though, because I wasn't able to get all of the phones on again. For now, we have enough of them working that we will survive until the vendor comes and I'm not going to touch it until then!

Oldgoat - thanks, we will ask about the battery when they come out. Actually they mentioned this on the phone too.

Hey, don't mean to show my age but I have 16/48 manuals and 616 manuals. Let me know if your guy got lost on vacation.
Might have to refresh myself since I haven't seen one of those things in years but may be able to get a phone or two to ring.
Let me know if I can help. Where are you located?

Jerry, thanks for the offer but our guy came back from vacation yesterday and got everything reprogrammed. I wanted to see the manual so I'd know the exact name to look for (I want my own manual!), but he kept them in a locked case and was careful not to take them out far enough for anything to be visible.

He didn't replace the battery, saying that it would cost more than the unit was worth. Hmmm...

Thanks for the help everyone.
