How can I optomise parts of an image using jpg, and gif?

(OP)
Hi I have a image where I want to optomize part of it as a gif, and part of it as a jpg, but when I export it I want to export it separtely. Can I do this is this slicing?

RE: How can I optomise parts of an image using jpg, and gif?

yes...use slices to break up your image however you like. select each slice and set the optimization. when you export the slices they will retain the individual settings.

RE: How can I optomise parts of an image using jpg, and gif?

If you are trying to export slices on their own, select the slice and then right-click. Choose the export selected slice command from the menu. This will allow you to export and name the slice individually, as well as tweaking the optimisation settings.

Right clicking does this work for Fireworks or Im age Ready?
Also will this export ohly one slice or all the slices? Isn't there a way to optomize each slice then export to Dreamweaver as slices, yet when in DW they show up as one image put together again?
Thanks all

sorry I am an idiot of course its FIREWORKS thats the forum I wrote my questio in. Sorry. Duh

RE: How can I optomise parts of an image using jpg, and gif?

yes...like I said in my first post...just select your slices and optimize them individually when you export it ...it puts all the images into a table. when the image is used in dreamweaver it is automatically put back together like a big puzzle...with some pieces being jpg and some gif.

You should make sure the following settings are true when exporting:

Save as type=HTML and Images

HTML:Export HTML File

Slices: Export Slices

Include Areas Without Slices should be checked

Put Images In Subfolder is entirely up to you.

Instructions for your browser on how to put the image back together is contained in the htm file that it will create and put in the same folder with your images (slices).

In Dreamweaver use the "insert Fireworks HTML" on your (common) objects toolbar to insert your image onto the page.

Happy Fireworks!
