telnet and as400

(OP)
Does anybody know any reason why I shouldn't use Telnet for remote access to the AS/400 at my work?  It seems like a good way to go instead of installing Rumba at home, but I don't know much about the whole thing.

RE: telnet and as400

My experience with using telnet to attach to the 400 is that it will work but you loose key funtionality. If you want a thin install use the client access cd to create a set of PC5250 diskettes. It is a batch file called make52cw this will create the diskettes then you install from there.

RE: telnet and as400

Telnet works great.  I use it to access the AS400 all the time.  To fix the problem with the function keys, download the 5250 telnet software from Mochasoft.
