Can you reverse engineer data out of a Cognos cube?

Almost 100% sure that there is no way to do this.

Mdc file stores Data that forms as a basis for query by the Power Play. As far as the Power Play is concerned the mdc is the synonym for the Data repository. I do not think there is possible to reverse engineer the Query from the mdc. It may be possible to reverse engineer the imr file however into Brio. to track the sequel

Did you erase this on a network? if so, then ask for the nightly back ups that are made to get you a copy of that old file that may just be in a storage area somewhere. If it was on your hard drive, then your sol... but wait, from looking at the mdc, you could try to re-create the imr. It can't be too bad. Do you have a mdl? If the mdl shows the columns, that should give you a good idea of how to re-create it. It would list all the columns there without signing on to databs. Use the mdl and the mdc you have as a tool.

CognosProfessional.... I have the mdc saved and I am able to view it in PowerPlay but what I really need is the flat file and datta that created the cube in the first place. In other words I would like to rebuilt the SQL table at the most detailed level using the Cognos data.

I have tried the screen scrap method but it is too painful.

You didn't answer my question about the ".mdl". Do you have one? I know you have a .mdc, but what about the .mdl? If you have a model that created the cube, you could look at the Data Source Viewer by right clicking on the item and seeing if it shows sql there. If you got rid of your sql, did you mean the .iqd's? How did you build this cube? no .mdl? or pyi? Help me out here...I am trying to be of service.
