Outlook 97 - Appointments not showing in Meeting Planner

(OP)
I have a user that has appointments scheduled in her calendar but they do not show up as "busy" when viewed in meeting planner. She is using Outlook 97. I tried creating another profile with the same results. When I go to an appointment and change the "busy" to "out of office" it registers on the meeting planner. When I change it back to "busy" it registers on the meeting planner as "busy". Has anyone seen this? I am going to reinstall Outlook and see if that clears it up. It is very strange and lowers the confidence/acceptance of outlook as a planning/communication tool. No one else seems to have this problem.
