Additional SMS Reports

I am trying to run a software inventory report with SMS 2.0, unfortunately, the reports that come packaged with 2.0 aren't going to cut it. Is there any place that I could locate additional reports?

RE: Additional SMS Reports

You can creat you own Quary script to run the report.

RE: Additional SMS Reports

If you right click on the Queries node of the SMS 2 MMC and select All Tasks..New Query, you can plod your way through the interface to create the perfect queries without knowing SQL!  Including promtped values, custom headers, subselect queries, "list of values" queries, attribute reference, left, inner, right joins and more.

Alternatively, you can learn some very simple SQL (find some training on the web, take a two day class or buy a good book), and write some raw SQL and cut and paste that into the SMS database.  This is the option for the programmer-types, since it's going to take some time and dedication.

I have personally seen people go from no knowledge of SQL at all, to writing very nice queries using the first method (write a New Query in the mmc interface) in a matter of days.  Once you get used to the SMS 2 mmc interface you will be able to write exactly what you are looking for.

After writing the queries, you can use the SMS Extract tool to get the data into Access or Excel to generate better reports than are available with either Crystal or Export List.
