Getting the first page on the right side

I'm doing a 12-page booklet, 5.5" by 8.5", two pages per side of 8.5" by 11", double-sided. Converted from PM 7.0, where everything printed correctly, to InDesign 2.0.1 where everything looks good until I go to Print, go through InDesign's setup procedure, etc., then first page prints on the left side of the first sheet and I can't find the way to move it to the right side where it has to be when the pages are folded. The first page appears over the odd-numbered pages when previewing in tiled format but insists on printing on the wrong side of the page. Can Adobe Tim or anybody help? Thanks.

RE: Getting the first page on the right side

When you printed your booklet in PM7, did you use the Booklet Plug-in?

InDesign does not have this function. I purchased the "InBooklet plug-in" for InDesign from ALAP.

It works perfectly. With it you will get your first page in the correct position.

RE: Getting the first page on the right side

Yes, I used PM7's Utilities, Plug-ins, Build Booklet; in InDesign I used File, New, Book and everything looked good except for the first page. I find it strange that InDesign will not accomplish a comparable task as well as PM7 and that you have to look to a source outside Adobe for a solution.
I looked at www.alap.com and apparently that will do the job. Couldn't find the download price though. Can you tell me the cost, please. Thanks for the info.

RE: Getting the first page on the right side

I have not used the "Book" function in Indesign. But I looked at it and it seems to be a way of gathering different documents together. I think the word "Book" should not be taken too literally.
I agree that it is strange that Adobe did not include a plug-in for building booklets.
The Alap software costs 99 us.dollars. It has much more control in setting up the final booklet than PM7's Build Booklet.
I bought it online. Also I found the staff very helpful and they replied quickly to some email questions I sent them.
