Hi,is anybody familiar with WO actual revenue - from external systems?
We are now using MJV cost from external system without any problems...(just briefly - external application does create records in MSF903 - following MSB919,MSB900, sending costs to MSF620)...

What is the difference between cost and revenue in Mims configuration? Which configuration tasks have to be done?
Are revenue records created also in MSF903 - with transaction type of MJV? Is the revenue posting process the same as cost posting ? I can't understand this process in documentation...Many thanks for any help...

Petr,

I have not actually tested it, so pls forgive me if this may not prove right, I write from what I believe could be true:

- all transactions from external interface are created in MIMS as MJV - manual journal voucher, this would include revenue

- there is nothing on the MST903 record that indicate if the transaction is cost or revenue

- the account code and expense element should ensure that the transaction is posted to the correct account for revenue

- further when MIMS posting attempts to post against the work order or project, it needs some rule that will tell it that this is revenue and must not be posted as a cost to LAB/MAT/OTH. I believe such rules could be created using the Cost Categorisation facility (note there is a separate User ref manual) see MSO974 and set Revenue/Expense flag to R for revenue; then define the Posting Criteria, for instance by listing all expense elements that represent revenue - here you may need assistance from a consultant to make sure you don't get it wrong. Note that the rules you define here will apply throughout MIMS financial posting, not only in relation to external transaction interface.

- I would think that you need to ensure that the transaction amount for revenue on MST903 has the sign opposed to that of transactions representing costs

Thank you very much...It could help. I try it.
