old Palm III to new Clie data transfer

(OP)
I am repacing my venerable Palm IIIxe with a new Clie SJ-22. On the Sony support site it states that all old versions of Palm Desktop must be uninstalled prior to the installation of the Clie version. How do I preserve my existing data, and transfer it to the new unit? The Palm IIIxe syncs via serial cradle, the Sony via USB cable. Can I install the new software, use it to sync from my old Palm to the Desktop, then sync to the new Clie?

RE: old Palm III to new Clie data transfer

You have 2 ways to go:
1.Copy all actual data to palm and sync new desktop soft with it
2.backup old desktop data folders and restore them after installing new one.
