We use serial number to track items we produce. The sequence will often start with a 0. For instance, a common number may be 01053. However, Access removed the first 0 so the number looks like 1053. How can I format the number not to remove the first zero? thanks.

in the format property of the field (for table data) or control (for forms & reports) put

00000

no quotes or anything else just the zeros

also check out "Format Property" in access help
