Where are my icons? Using Quicktime

(OP)
My buddies PC is having a big problem.....all the desktop icons are Quicktime icons, except for the icons that come default with a Windows ME install.  Outlook Express, Office, Roxio, pretty much every icon is a Quicktime icon.  When I start Windows they are just the basic icons and then they get overlayed with Quicktime.  You can still see the icons behind the Quicktime icons. This makes for a very ugly desktop.  I have uninstalled and even searched the REG and deleted all QT instances.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.
