Uploading to 1232Analog system

Uploading to 1232Analog system

Hi there peoples,
I wish to do a data dump from a system & store it on a disc so that at a later time I can make changes or if the system falls over I dont need to hand load everything in again but just dump it back into the 1232.
any ideas thanks

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

I'm assuming you're talking about a KXT and not a KXTD!  As far as I know, you can only dump data to a printer or a terminal program in text form!  This can be a reference to re-input back in but not a true backup/restore.  On the digital (KXTD) you can do this with Panasonic software.

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

Hi Cmario
Thanks for that yes it was the analog system I was interested in. It appeared that way to me, but I was hoping that there may have been something or some way to get around it.

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

You can dump to a file and if needed edit by "batch style" to send complete file.

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

thank you mikochan
Yes I can do that and a good thought but how do you dump back into the 1232 if required.
I now have a backup battery on the board of that system so I shouldn't lose info But.

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

Add EOD - at end of batch file
enter edit mode - EDT
enter FIL - screen should say "Transmit the batch data"
transmit file previously made
Screen will say "Batch style end" when finished

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

Can you teach me something? Are you talking about a KXT1232 analog switch? Do you communicate through the RS232 port? I thought you can only program from a display phone!

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

Yes I do use the RS232 port when on site, but mostly I do it remorely through a the built in modem. I am 300 miles away from the unit and usually phone in after hours to make changes and perform diagnostics.

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

Hi Mikochan
Thanks just so I can get it straight do you have a modem sitting on an extn.( or DDI number) and connected to the serial port of the switch.
Then use hyperterminal at the remote end to connect & talk to modem.
This sounds exactly what I was wanting. I will try to set it up in the next week if I can get to the switch to try talking to it directly, then try the modem it would be good to be able access it remotely thus saving a lot of time and effort.
Many thanks

RE: Uploading to 1232Analog system

I use the built in modem, but I heard of people connecting a modem to the RS 232 port on the switch. See http://kxthelp.com/ this is a good site for Panasonic info
