Repair corrupted GDB

I'm having the following error when trying to acess a GDB file:

Database file appears corrupt ()
wrong page type
page 664 is of wrong type (expected 7, found 5)

I tried to recover data with gfix, gbak and isql but I couldn't connect to the DB; it seems it's corrupted at a very primary level.
If anybody has experienced the same, is there any chance to recover the data, using Interbase or thrid-party SW?
And what causes this corruption? I've seen about IB bugs, concurrent threads, garbage collectors, but no certain reasons. Any help?
Thanks in advance
