Direct Input and WindowsXP

(OP)
I am having a problem with direct Input when running my program on Windows XP.  The program runs in fullscreen and the normal windows cursor is disabled.  I made my own little cursor for the program that responds to MouseState calls.  Seems to work fine but whenever I move it to the top left or top right of the screen and click(there is some functionallity for this) the game closes illegally, I see a quick flash of the window's close button right before the program crashes.  Now I have run this same program on Windows 98/2000/XP and the only time this problem happens is when its running on XP.  Anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Thanx
