SONY Clié PEG-T615C with Windows NT

(OP)
Hello all,

Is there any patch or work around to use a SONY Clié PEG-T615C with Windows NT? I am trying to use the device on two machines; I have MS Windows XP at home and NT at work. I can't install the Palm Desktop on the machine. I get the following error message:

   Error Number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load dll: portdtct

SONY Online Support had this to say:
SONY does not support the Windows NT operating system for any of our CLIE Handheld models. This Windows NT limitation is not due to the USB connection requirement (Windows NT does not provide USB support). SONY product testing has indicated that using the optional serial cradle connection will not permit functionality under the Windows NT platform. At this time SONY has not announced plans to develop support for the Windows NT environment for the CLIE.

Thanks for any assistance.

Best regards,

Matthew Ian Loew

RE: SONY Clié PEG-T615C with Windows NT

Have you considered NOT using the palm desktop on the NT machine? I want to say that Pumatech's Intellisync should allow you to sync to Outlook, ACT, Lotus, etc under NT.
I personally use Lotus Organizer, which took a little work to get the data sync right, but is super otherwise. I don't use Palm's software for anything but installing software onto my Clie.

BUT I can't swear that it will work without the Palm program installed. If you use the XP machine to install programs, etc onto the Clie you will hopefully be able to sync that baby on the other end using a serial cable into NT.
