Displaying table definition

Displaying table definition

Displaying table definition

(OP)
Hi,
After creating a table in PostgreSQL
how do I display the table definition
(inames of columns as well as the column
types)? In Oracle this would be done using
DESCRIBE table_name, but there seems
to be no DESCRIBE in PostgreSQQL.
Help would be hugely appreciated.

Tom

RE: Displaying table definition

run psql <databse name>

type \d <tablename>

\? will get you all the internal psql comands
\h will get you a list of suported sql commands
\h <command> will get you a detailed description of the sytax etc.
