I am creating a database that will store articles from a newspaper. I would like to know what the best way to go about doing this would be.

Thank you

What is the current format of the articles? Might be best to keep them external from the database in txt files or something and just create a link to the DB.

First things first, tho.

Make a list of all of the data you will want to track, such as Print Date, Print Section, Author, CoAuthor, Title, Main Subject, Keywords, etc. If you're going to keep info on Authors, make a second list of info for them.

Once you've done an extremely thorough job of that, come back and ask what to do with it. It'd be easier that way.

All of the articles are saved as .doc's. I have created a database that houses the author, date created, Title, and keywords.

Now what is the next step from here, how do i store a reference as to where the file is on my hard drive in the database. One thing to keep in mind is that this will be for the web, so it will have to be able to be displayed on the internet. I am using Lasso to create the front end.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't know web stuff, FFB, but just create another field with the field type being a hyperlink. Then, when you type the name of the file in, it should become underlined. I'm sure you're familiar with that. Also, won't the docs have to be in the server? See--I don't know web. I have Access 2K and it has hyperlink as a data type. I believe 97 has it too, but I'm not sure, and I don't know which version you're using.
