online vb teaching aids?

(OP)
hey guys, i'm new here...and new to the whole vb programming...i have vb6 studio and would like to learn it...i have next to none experience in programming, but am willing to learn...i can't really afford going to school, but i was wondering if someone could direct me to some good books, software, or online sites that could help me get off the ground...thanks for any help....

RE: online vb teaching aids?

A good way to get started is books like Visual Basic in 21 days. It should give you what you need to get started. Lots of tutorials online too, just go surfing for pages targeted at beginners. Good luck, you should be programming in no time, my girlfriend picked up the basics in just a few days.

RE: online vb teaching aids?

There are what I'm going to call "mechanics" books and and "philosphy" books. Once you figure out the mechanics of the VB, move on to the philospfhy books. There are lots of mechanics books.
Using Visual Basic 6
Visual Basic 6 Unleashed
etc.

There are also several Philosphy books. The following are must read books in my opinion:
Doing Objects in VB 6. Debra Kurata (Read first)
Visual Basic 6 Business Objects. Rockford Lhotka (Read second)

There are also several database access books you might want to read. However, reading and understanding the books listed will have you well on your way.
