I'm considering Ecoscope. Any advice?

RE: Ecoscope

EcoScope is a good product that does a good job. Just be aware of what it is really designed to do. EcoScope can monitor applications though a network based upon TCP port numbers within the packets. So it can be a very useful tool for application response time monitoring thoughout your network (including the WAN). It however was not designed to do the job of a network sniffer product like General Sniffer. One more thing to concider is looking into the type of network switches you have in your environment. EcoScope works better with some switch makers (i.e. Cisco) than others.

RE: Ecoscope

EcoScope does a good job of what it does but you must have a clear and concise of what you need done to ensure that EcoScope will satisfy your requirements.  The EcoScope documentation (written, Help, and on-line) lack in content and ease of use.  Some of their tech support is knowledgable and some will give you limited answers.  Look carefully at acalability,  EcoScope has limitations so be certain that it will match your sizing.  Interoperability with other products is limited although they promise that it will do better in the future (as does everyone else).  Ask for demo copies so you can try it out.  The sales promises dont mapp to reality.
