Pathfinder question - Illustrator 10 PC

(OP)
Hi, all -

This is a simplistic example of what I'm trying to do:

I'd like to cut a shape in half with a line with the result being 2 shapes and no line.  I know it can be done easily on the Mac, but here on the PC it's defying discovery.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

Synth

RE: Pathfinder question - Illustrator 10 PC

make sure the line your using to cut has no fill color.
