error message "Failed to update project location information..."

Apart from the "error reading from file" (could sourcesafe PLEASE tell me WHICH FILE?), I also get an error message "Failed to update project location information in the host application" when opening other projects.

The help tells me that another application is using the .MDB file. Could somebody tell where there is an .mdb file involved? The error message occurs when I open a project in VB6. There is no database in the project.

RE: error message "Failed to update project location information..."

Not sure if you fixed this or not but I came across the same problem.  Here's what I did to fix it.

1. Look at the following http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304230
This is to register dao350.dll on your system.

2. I installed the latest MDAC on my machine as asked in the article.

3. There is a license you should check for in the registry.  Make sure it exists, if it doesn't, add it.
Here's the entry. Add the "mb....trak" string without the quotes.

Hope it fixes your problem.

RE: error message "Failed to update project location information..."

Alas, no I tried all the things described, but that didn't change anything. MDAC refused to install and reported that it was already installed.
The licence was there.

Thanks for the tip
