System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

(OP)
It appears that the '1' is being stripped off when dialing long distance within our home area code.  Ever since we upgraded some of our trunks to ISDN we are having this problem.  We dial 1-763-NNN-NNNN, but get recording that says 'you must dial a 1 when calling this number'.  I don't understand what is wrong.  Did List Trace Station, and this happens when the outgoing call seizes either a member of trunk 4 (isdn), or a member of trunk 1 (dss).  Can anyone help?  Thank you.

RE: System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

Hi applepie,

Try using the following command to see which route pattern is getting used.

list ars route-chosen 1763NNNNNNN

Then display that route pattern to see if any digits are getting deleted.

disp route-pattern N

Worth a shot... good luck!

Hi Janney,

I show route pattern 8, preference 1.  I display route pattern 8 and there are no entries in the 'deleted digits' column.  Here is what it looks like:

                               Pattern Number: 8

Grp.  FRL  NPA   Pfx     Hop     Toll      No. Del    Inserted            IXC
No.                  Mrk    Lmt      List      Digits        Digits
 1:     4     4             0                                                                  user
 2:     1     4             1                                                                  user

Any ideas?  Thanks.

RE: System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

Have you tried changing the Prefix Mark within your Route Pattern? I noticed it was set to "0" for group-4.

Prefix Mark — Not required for AAR. For ARS, enter a number from 0–4 or blank (default). This specifies whether the prefix digit 1 is outpulsed.

RE: System stripping off '1' for long distance calls in home area code

Prefix mark 0 supresses a user dialed 1 on 10 digit FNPA calls. Try replacing prefix mark 0 with a 1 on your first entry. This should work. Prefix mark 1 sends a 1 on 10 digit calls but not on 7 digit calls.

This was the problem.  The '1' was being suppressed due to the '0' in the prefix mark field.  Thanks for your help :)
