can't open my files anymore!!! HELP!!!

(OP)
during one of my illutrator sessions, my computer crashed (windows 98). since that, i can't open most of my illustrator files anymore, which is a lot. every time i open a file i get a dialog box saying: cannot open illustration. i tried to import them into flash wich work for some of my files i can open in illustator but not for the ones i can't open in illustrator.

i'm in the middle of a big project, and i really need to use my illustrator files. can anyone give me a suggestion? should i try to unninstal and reinstall illustrator? would that work?

i really need you guy's help. thanks...
