We have a 4.11 sp8a server that is abending when loading ipxrtr.nlm, either manually or automatically. We are also having the problem of BackupExec no longer being able to back up this server. It will attach, then start the back up session and it will still be running (or appears to be)VERY SLOWLY in the morning, only having completed one or two directories, is that. We believe that this a being caused by ipxrtr not being loaded. Nlist will see the server, DISPLAY SERVICES will see it, but when you load ipxcon, it fails. Other servers cannot see this server in ipxcon. Any ideas?

No never got it fixed. It's not really causing us any issues at the moment. Just basically an annoyance because we have an abend listed on the console. But our network has been running remarkably well for a while now except for that.

I have a Novell 4.11 server with several Windows 95/98 clients connected thru IPX/SPX. Two of the clients have been upgraded to Windows XP Professional. One of the Windows XP is connected to Internet thru ADSL and the other Windows XP is sharing this connection. Both Windows XP machines have IPX/SPX and TCP/IP protocols. The problem is that now users cannot get server authenticated from the machine that is connected to the Internet thru the ADSL. ¿What is causing this?, ¿How should this be set up? Please take into consideration that I have very little knowledge about Novell networks and that I just recently "inherited" this network. Thanks in advance for any help you may give me.

A good place you can start looking would be support.novell.com you can find everything you need from product documentation right up to specific configuration problems.

From there, learn Novell. I would have to tell you that if you take some time to learn the OS you will prefer using it over Microsoft, unless you want to make a switch to MS and deal with the many, many, many problems that come with it.
