FPD26 on XP

FPD26 on XP

FPD26 on XP

My FPD26 app sends CHR(7)+(CHR(7) to pop a cash drawer for some clients which works fine on all platforms except XP.
XP returns an error.  I have tried sending the string to Virtual LPT port then redirecting the LPT to COM which does work after a 1 minute delay.  Any clues or suggestions will be much appreciated.

RE: FPD26 on XP

You'll need to switch spooling off and/or set spool msdos jobs to NO

RE: FPD26 on XP

thanks but my real objective is to send code directly to com port with "device not ready" error.  I can do it from dos window prompt but cannot from within application.

RE: FPD26 on XP

Hi Tondi,

I am interest to see the code to allow to open the cash draw. Don't you mind  to send the source code.

thanks in advance.

RE: FPD26 on XP

The program simply sends CHR(7)+CHR(7) to COM1 or COM2 which has always worked on everything but WinXP.  Running app In WinXP I get the error 'device not ready.'  Testing with commands from the prompt in DOS window works fine.

RE: FPD26 on XP

Are you running the APP using one of the compatibility modes? If not, have you tried any?

RE: FPD26 on XP

I have just recently found out (see my post FPD2.6 on XP) that you can not address the com or lpt ports directly from dos under XP.
I have tried VMware 3.00 which works fine but at $299US a pop, I'll be giving that one a miss.

RE: FPD26 on XP

Thanks for responding ...
Yes, I have tried Win95 & Win98 Compatibility modes.

I have clients using serial label printers as well as serial cash drawers.  I have talked to the Cashdrawer Manufacturer and also Label Printer Manufacturer.  They are pulling their hair out and have no solutions, just point finger at XP.

Cash drawer support suggested it might be a speed issue and suggested slowing down the Baud rate but that did not help either.
