How can I invoke Microstrategy report from jsp? Is it possible to customize the Microstratey report by using jsp?

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

MicroStrategy has a java api which you can call from within your JSP, either model 1 or 2.  Check out their Java documentation.

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

Hi nlim,

Thanks for your reply and ofcourse I know about the api's provided by Microstrategy

(WebAPI and WebHelperApi). My requirement is I have to render the Microstrategy report

over the web with the help of jsp with out doing any custom design? If you could thro

more light on this, I would be helpful because WEBAPI is providing the data from

Microstrategy only in the form of XML, but the requirement is, I have to render the

Microstrategy report on the web as such by making a request thro jsp.

Many Thanks,
suri

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

If you scan the program file directories of MicroStrategy you'll find a couple of xsl files which are used to covert MSTR report xml to html.  You should be able to use these XSLs with a XSL processor to convert the report xml into html within your jsp.  are you using model 1 or 2?

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

I could't understand what do you mean "model1 and model2" Could you please explain the same?

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

Thanks a lot and I will come back to you once the job is done.

RE: Invoking Microstrategy Reports by using Java

Hi nlim,

As I was busy with something, I could't respond to u so far. I finished invoking the Microstrategy report thro jsp. There is a strange error I got today like when I invoke the report sometimes it shows the report. Sometimes it gives the following error

Error Page
DSSXMLResultSet.Submit failed. Error is 0x80043e9f
Suberror: Message not persisted in user inbox. Inbox may be full.

Even after deleting the content of Inbox, still the error is persisting. Could you please advice on this issue as it is so critical.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,
Suri

I'd recommend logging a case with their tech support for this kind of error message.  Sometimes they have a good handle on it.
