Converting exported audix messages from .aud to any sound format.

Converting exported audix messages from .aud to any sound format.

(OP)
I have legal situation where a I need to have voicemail messages put on standard audio media (i.e., tape or cd).

I have an Intuity Audix v4 using Message Manager. I have setup a personal folder in MM and copied specific messages over to that folder which resides on my hard drive. The files it places in my folder are in .aud format. I have tried the big 3 audio players (Windows Media, Winamp, and Real) with no success in opening these files. I am assuming at this point that this is a proprietary file format specific to Audix.

Does anyone know how I can play these files or convert them to something that is playable?

Thanks for the help-

Chris

RE: Converting exported audix messages from .aud to any sound format.

You need to install the Avaya Voice player. The files using Message Manager sound files are saved in a "lvp", Lucent Voice Player format. They are CELP encoded.  The player is freely distributed, the link is listed below.

Using the Message Manager software create a folder on your local machine, you may allready have one.  Move the file from the Audix to your PC by dragging and droping it into the appropraite folder.  If the player has been installed you can now play the file.  Hope this helps

Thanks

Chris

RE: Converting exported audix messages from .aud to any sound format.

I always thought the extra player was really clumsy of Lucent/Avaya. They are always trying to attach their brand to everything. I discovered MsgMgr does convert to .WAV just they don’t tell you about it. I know this works in windows 95/98 but I haven’t tested it in any other OS's.

1. Open MsgMgr.
2. check use soundcard in the options menu
3. Play the message in its entirety through your PC speakers.
4. Minimize MsgMgr And open C:\windows\temp. (or where your temp files go).
4. Sort the window by type and you should find a wave file that looks something like this ~mma2937.wav
5. Copy it and paste it where you like.

This is your message in WAV format!

Take that Avaya!
