Saving SK98 simultaneously to two locations

Saving SK98 simultaneously to two locations

I've had a few disasters with Sidekick over the years, usually losing my contacts database when there is a PC crash.  Having just got up and running again with Sidekick 98 my paranoia about data loss is setting in.

I've been backing up to different disks and folders and to CD-R.  But, I have a second machine on a home network and wondered if anyone has any suggestion for saving to this other machine across the network at the same time as I do a normal save.  Or is there any facility in Sidekick that will allow it to save a new backup file whenever it saves the main file?

RE: Saving SK98 simultaneously to two locations

Try SecondCopy it works in the background and will copy files to anywhere (I back up two machines to each other across a network and it works fine).
It doesn't like to backup SDK98 Write files while they are in use, but does backup cardfiles even if you Ctrl+L them at the time. You can also Backup Calendar files but remember that Write files are made up of 3 Files SKContent SKNoteHeader SKWrite  and depending on if you have specified Resources etc Calendar files are made up of a lot of .SKW files see Help Backing-up

SecondCopy sits in your Systray and you can create any number of profiles (read Backup Jobs) in .zip format or uncompressed with the last X number of Archives in another folder
I have used SecondCopy97 for 3 years now and can thoroughly recommend it I hope the new 2000 version is as good.

Once again you've come up with the goods.  Thanks very much for that info.  Looks like SecondCopy does exactly what I wanted.

RE: Saving SK98 simultaneously to two locations

It's a pleasure.

One other thing Also check out the advanced options Include Files in Backup and Do not include Files In backup
These options can be used with '*' WildCards
