Office2000 Internal error 2343 during setup

Office2000 Internal error 2343 during setup

Office2000 Internal error 2343 during setup

(OP)
Have tried to install Office2000 on a PC with Lotus Notes installed and received the following: 'Internal error 2343 during setup.  Installation ended prematurely because of an error.'
Has anyone encountered this before and if so what solutions/work arounds are there.
Any help gratefully received.

RE: Office2000 Internal error 2343 during setup

Refer to Microsoft Technet (www.microsoft.com/support) articles Q228668 and Q234435.  They provide a description of the workaround as well as a link to an downloadable exe that fixes the problem.

Real easy fix -
Rename notes.ini to notes.bak, or notes.whatever
Install office, and then rename the notes file.
All is well.
notes.ini is located in c:\winnt

We have tried the microsoft "fix" and it did not change a thing.  This works 100%.
