CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Hi All,

I've just bought a CS1000S off eBay (for just messing about with in the lab)

What's the best method to reset this (and where I can download any required software) as I don't know the logins or even what IP address / Subnet it's assigned to.

Cheers!

Paul

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Post a photo please of the processor. Normally, the password reset is done via the command line.

This depends upon the software release.

Hiya,

Please see below. As I said - don't care if it works, just want something I can play with the overlays / commands on.

Cheers!

Paul

You have a Option 11c type system.
If you remove the SSC card (with the power off) then look on the silver dongle that sits at the top left hand side as it has a number on it.
Post the number.

You will need access to it via the TTY RS232 cables. The one marked "0" is best. You need a terminal based tool and have the baud rate at 19200.

Hi,

Forget last post (if you got it) - Here is the Dongle

Cheers,

Paul

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

That number on the dongle is your system site ID.

Have you been given the RS232 TTY cables?.
They should plug into the RS232 type connector that is on the cabinet.

Hiya,

I've not got any here (but have ordered some USB/Serial cables) - it is standard RS-232, or do I have to find some wierdly wired null-modem type (I have a *huge* pile of legacy cables at the office)

Assumed for the moment, I have the correct cable - Is it just a case of logging in with the system ID and running a command to change the password?

Cheers,

Paul

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Hello Paul

It's not that simple to obtain the passwords. The cables might give you grief. I would try and source the correct ones.

Even if you were able to eventually log in, there is no guarantee that it has a database or keycodes or even any that are useful to use.

@Firebird Scrambler

Once I get this into the office next week - if I get stuck, I'll contact you to arrange to purchase unlock instructions (I saw on your website you offer this service) 👍

Cheers,

Paul

Just a note to say that David Bromley (Somertel) not only helped me out, but remotely connected at very short notice and fixed my access.

A top man, and now added to my contact list as useful resource. 👍

Thanks Paul. Glad I could still remember the dark art.

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Yep Firebird I would really have to have a search about to find the document I have for doing the passwords for the earlier releases, and at one point I even had a procomm script for it smile

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Bignose21, would that be the word document that I wrote?. I've got the Procomm Plus script if you need it.

RE: CS1000S Complete Password/System reset

Yes on the word document, came by it through a colleague when I worked for Kingston, I still have the script but just haven't used Procomm in a while tend to use Zoc and haven't altered the script to Rexx as I haven't reset an old system in quite some time, and all new releases have the reset with the install card as verification. If I ever do one again I will install procomm smile
