9N dialout working with no short code, but dial 8N won't with short code.

Hi Guys.

This is a good one.
I have a customer that has always used 8N shortcode to dial out. And it worked fine.
They had to change a UPS backup, so the systems were powered down, the work done, and then powered back up.

Now, for some reason, if they try to dial out with 8N, which goes to 50:Main, just like before, they get unobtainable. 9N - which has NO shortcode works fine to dial out.

The control unit has been rebooted and same.

I tested by unconditionally call forwarding the extension to my cell phone. Again, prefix with 8 and it rings forever, never calling out. Prefix with 9 and all is good.

I did a backup before the power down, so I can reload that, as a last resort, but this makes NO sense...

Any ideas?

Regards

RE: 9N dialout working with no short code, but dial 8N won't with short code.

What release is this?

Are there any short codes built under Users or User Rights Groups?

Also, double-check your line groups, as I have experienced unexplainable, sudden changes in later releases. There is a whole slew of bugs out there.

Sometimes a reboot will cause "temporary" features (like call forwarding or hot-desking) to turn off. Are there any scenarios like this?

I would be interested to see how this turns out, so please post, once a solution is found.

Please remember... If it's not the way that YOU would do it, that does not necessarily mean it's wrong. EVERYONE knows SOMETHING that you do not.

Hi there.

I did find the problem, and it was close to what you mentioned.

After trying a number of things, and checking to make sure the old and new configs (to make sure nothing got corrupted after the reboot), it APPEARS the issue required a ... wait for it ...

reboot of the phones (i.e. disconnecting from the jack, wait ten seconds, plug back in).

As of this writing, every phone that had the issue (that the customer told me about) came back to life after the reboot.

Keep your fingers crossed and thanks for the assist. You got a star big smile

Regards
